My colleague Antonia and I established this music video for Era's song 'BonBon,' a rebranded version of her original music video and public personality with artistic and completely new features. I could not be more pleased with the result. The teamwork and combination of ideas resulted in our music video's creativity and eye-catching qualities. This entire project had numerous ups and downs with a series of unfortunate limitations. However, I can confidently say I am a proud member of this project.
In terms of social groups and issues, we focused on youth and their freedom. This ties in with social groups (teenagers) and the social issues that some teenagers create in society nowadays. While this music video is made in an empowering tone for the youth, showing their freedom and happiness compiled with an upbeat pop song, there is a hidden meaning about youth being rebels and somewhat trouble makers. Freedom is a state of mind that is essentially associated with all ages. Freedom is a power that beckons at every age. However, the priorities are different. Teenagers often see freedom as the time to be rebellious. Our music video shows that the two models run alone and take the cars, appearing 'cool' to our audience.
The two models in our music video are running wild and free, acting rebellious with the activities they're engaging in (car races, drifts, running from home, etc.)
In the song BonBon, Era talks about how she's going through a breakup and mentions "lighting up a blunt" multiple times. This further represents and proves that there are existing issues with social groups as young people do certain activities things to appear cool even though that there is a potential risk of running into bad situations. This also ties in with the fact that youngsters resort to such activities when they run into unfortunate/complicated situations such as a breakup.
