Coursework Development - Music Video

Updated: Apr 30, 2022

Raw Videos

We got a rough number of 80 raw video footage that we could potentially use for the music video. After placing all the videos into a common album, we reviewed all the videos and decided on the final 68 videos that would potentially work for the final video. After deciding the final videos, we edited them all individually so they would all have a similar color palette.

Heres a contact sheet which can give an idea of what the footage looks like.

The next step was to edit the videos. At first Antonia and I were faced with the challenge of selecting a video editing app which would make our videos look professional and also be relatively simple. Initially, we tried out premiere pro, however after speaking to some friends, we were given some advice and were told to try out the app 'CapCut'. Fortunately, I was already familiar with this app and was really glad that it's considered a good app for editing videos.

After we edited the overall video and paired up the individual footages, the harder part was coming next. Adding transitions, extra edits, and text. A lot of trial and error has been put in this stage of editing. We decided to keep it relatively simple when it comes to transitions, we added an open/close transition at the beginning of the video and a couple other subtle ones throughout the video. We decided that if we added heavy edits, it would look cheesy and unprofessional.

With the help of CapCut app, we found simmilar fonts as the ones used on the digipak and we decided to use them so that there is a similarity between the digipak and video. We used the 2 contrasting fonts: a bold one for the song title "Bonbon" and a lighter one, which imitates handwriting, for Era' s name.

For the final touches, we added our logo that we posted on our social media page, as well as a short text: "Mara & Antonia A level media " which would let our audience know that this video is a project for our A level exam. We decided that it would be a good idea to keep this short text simple and easy to read, so we used the font 'vogue'.
